Abstract

The large-scale adoption of reusable packaging solutions is challenging without active retailer engagement. Retailers often express reluctance to embrace products in reusable packaging due to the additional costs they introduce compared to disposable alternatives. To address this issue, our paper examines two potential contract strategies (buy-back and revenue sharing), as means to coordinate the channel between retailers and manufacturers effectively.
